Over the past few years I’ve started using Yankee Candles more and more both in my kitchen and throughout my home.
At first I found them quite pricey but eventually I realized that they offer quite good value for how long they burn and the scents were some of the best that I was able to find in candles.
After burning for just a few moments the candle typically fills up my entire kitchen or living room with a delicious and fresh smell and after a short while the entire house smells like whatever candle scent I’m using.
With so many different scents to choose from I wanted to create an in-depth guide on how to find the best Yankee Candle scents depending on the atmosphere you’re looking to create in your home.
At first I’ll talk about some scents that are great for all-around general use and then I’ll dive into my recommendations if you’re looking for ones that are suitable for either fall or Christmas/winter use.
Keep in mind that these scents are all of my personal favorites and despite my friends also enjoying the same smells I would recommend heading to your local Yankee Candle store if you can to try a few on your own.
The Best Yankee Candle Scents for General Use
Fresh Cut Roses
One of my favorite candle scent to use throughout the year in my home, especially in the spring and summer months, is the Fresh Cut Roses one.
As the name suggests it gives off an intoxicating smell of fragrant roses and is also quite fruity with some hints of apple peel, citrus, and green leaf.
Of course the scent of roses is quite strong but it isn’t too overpowering so it makes for a suitable choice to use in a home kitchen or living room.
Pink Sands is another one of my favorite scents to use in my living room or kitchen.
I find that it’s a very floral scent with some hints of citrus and even spicy vanilla.
I really love the smell of this candle and I especially like using it on a warm summer or spring night as a way to just enhance the mood and take away the smell of any of the late spring or summer dampness caused by the rain.
The Pink Sands smell really sends me back to the time I spent in Mexico and I always love having it burning.
The Lilac Blossoms is yet another one of my favorites to use in my home and I love the lavender and floral scent that it gives off.
Some of the more fragrant scents include dewy greens, water lily, and bergamot with lilac, hyacinth, and tulip offering a little bit of the mid scent range.
This is one of my favorites to use during the spring and I especially love getting it going after I’ve done a thorough spring cleaning of the house.
Sun and Sand
The Sun and Sand candle is one that I love using during the summer and I really enjoy the tropical and citrus scents that it gives off.
I find that this candle offers quite a fresh aroma and I love burning it on those late summer nights when I’m enjoying some time with friends.
Some of the top fragrances include citrus and orange flower with some of the mids being eucalyptus and lavender so it’s a very floral and summery fresh scent.
When I’ve got this one going it really brings me back to my younger days when my family would take me to the beach, lather me up with sunscreen, and just let me enjoy the warm sun for a few hours.
The Best Yankee Candle Scents for Christmas
I absolutely love Christmas and it’s definitely my favorite time of year so it’s not surprising that I always have a Christmas Yankee candle burning at all times throughout the day during the holiday season.
There are quite a few different Christmas-themed candles to choose from but here are some of my favorite ones that I love having in my home to fill it with that holiday fragrance.
The Christmas Cookie Yankee Candle is one of my favorite Christmas candle scents.
I love burning it because it fills the entire house with a lovely smell of freshly baked cookies and the rich vanilla Aroma makes me feel right at home during the holiday season.
Even when I’m baking on my own I always have this candle burning because I’m just so addicted to the scent and even my friends comment on how much it reminds them of Christmas whenever they visit my home.
The most strong fragrance is the vanilla aroma that this candle gives off and I also note a few aromas of cinnamon and sugar as well so it really smells like something sweet and delicious is being baked in the oven.
Balsam and Cedar
I was recently at the outlet in Buffalo and as soon as I smelled the Balsam and Cedar candle it instantly became one of my favorites and I brought it home to get it burning right away.
Despite it being a little early in the year I quickly fell in love with the holiday/Christmasy Aroma that this one gives off and it’s definitely going to be in the rotation during this year’s holiday season.
This one actually reminds me of hiking up in Northern Ontario right after a recent snowfall when the balsam and cedar smells from the nearby trees start to give off their aroma as the snow starts to melt.
With this candle so there is a little hint of citrus and red berry with some of the lingering scents being that of pine, balsam and of course cedar.
I love getting this one burning on those dark and cold winter nights when it’s just too chilly to be outdoors and I just want to cuddle up under the blankets and relax.
