I absolutely love espresso. Without a doubt it’s one of my all-time favorite hot coffee drinks and there’s just something magical about a delicious and aromatic espresso that’s topped with a rich and foamy crema.
When it comes to the best espresso machine under $200 you have quite a few options. For this budget you start to open yourself up to some high quality machines with a few more added features compared to what you will get if you’re looking for something less than $100.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that it’s not all about the additional features but what you want is a machine that will make you a delicious and quality espresso every time. When it comes to drinking coffee, what more do you want?
Espresso machines under $200 will definitely come with a built-in milk frother and you will be able to make everything from tasty lattes to amazing cappuccinos all with one machine. Rather than having to buy any extra coffee accessories you will be able to make all you want using one machine in one place.
Sure, the more you spend the more features and quality you’ll get but for $200 you will be able to take advantage of a reliable, durable and easy to use espresso machine that comes with a few bells and whistles but not all of them.
Let’s take a look at the top espresso machines under $200.
DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker
Some of the Features Of This Espresso Machine:
- Designed And Built in the United States of America
- Dual function filter holder for easier use
- Cappuccino system frother for rich and frothy drinks
- Removable water tank – 44 ounce capacity
- Anti-drip designed for simple cleaning
Priced at just under $200 the DeLonghi EC702 15-Bar-Pump Espresso Maker is definitely the most costly machine on this list. However, with what you spend you get quite a range of great features and making your own espresso with this device is pretty ideal.
For the price range I don’t think that you could find a better, more equipped machine for the job and if you have a hard budget of just $200 then this is the device that I would personally recommend for you.
This DeLonghi, at 13.6 pounds, is quite a large machine but it makes a great centerpiece for your kitchen and is sturdy enough for regular use. At nearly a foot long in depth and height you’re going to need quite a bit of counter space to store this espresso machine and keep in mind that it’s not nearly as compact and portable as the others on this list. If anything, you are likely to see this one being used commercially since it’s such a quality and reliable device.
When it comes to making espresso at home you have really set yourself up for success with this machine. It comes equipped with two thermostats that give you the ability to control the steam and water pressure separately from one another. If this seems like too much work or too technical for you there is also a built in dual function holder so that you could use either pods or ground coffee beans without any additional work.
While not as fast as a dedicated pod machine the DeLonghi comes equipped with a self priming operation. This means that it’s ready to go and start brewing almost right away and your espresso or hot coffee drink will be produced faster than many of the other machines available.
Additionally, the included warming tray means that your espresso will stay warm and ready to drink long after it has already been brewed. So you can get everything going, go get dressed for work and come back to a ready-made and delicious espresso that’s steaming hot and perfect for drinking.
With this espresso maker you also enjoy a durable build and a stainless steel design. There aren’t any hard plastic or flimsy pieces so you can be assured that it will last for many years of regular use. The stainless steel boiler, which is able to evenly distribute heat, and the 15 bar pump pressure system means that you will be able to make a delicious espresso anytime you want one.
There is also a Sempre Crema filter so your crema will come out frothy and rich every single time. The build and cappuccino system frother works in the same way and you will be easily able to make frothy and rich lattes and cappuccinos without any trouble.
In the rear of the machine you will find a removable water tank that can store up to 44 ounces of water. With this you will be able to make multiple cups of espresso or cappuccino and take advantage of the anti-drip design for quick and easy cleaning.
When it comes down to it, for less than $200 you could really make any hot coffee drink that you are interested in having without having to visit a café and spend an exorbitant amount of money on something that you can easily make at home.
The only thing I don’t like about this machine is the attached steaming wand. It doesn’t work as well as all of the other features in this device and is really lacking compared to other machines with a similar feature. However, for the price, you just won’t be able to find an espresso machine with higher quality design, better features and more delicious tasting end result espresso.
Capresso EC100 Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Machine
Some of the features of this espresso machine include:
- Portable and compact
- Built-in frother/steamer
- Thermo block for quick heating and use

Grabbing the number two position on this list is the Capresso EC100 Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Machine. For under $200 it’s one of the best choices you can make. Coming in at just over 6 pounds, this machine has a small footprint and is a good choice for small kitchens or apartments where you don’t want some huge device sitting on your countertop taking up space.
Not only does this espresso machine grew up delicious espressos without very much effort but you can also make many other gourmet hot coffee drinks as well. Using the built-in frother it’s possible to make cappuccinos, lattes and many other espresso-based drinks.
The frother itself comes ready to use into different positions so, depending on the size of your mug, can really make anything you want and have it rich and creamy without too much effort.
Making espressos at home has never been faster and this pump machine takes advantage of a stainless steel lined Thermo block so in just a few seconds it will go from being completely off to ready to brew. Using this device is easy as well. There is an ergonomic twist knob on the front of the machine and you can choose whether you want an espresso, cappuccino or latte, or if you want to use the frothing tool.
Speaking of frothing, this is where this machine shines. It uses a frothing sleeve to make cappuccinos and when you remove it you will see steam tube for making lattes. You can choose between frothing or steaming depending on what you want to drink or, if you just want a regular espresso without milk, choose the correct setting and in less than 30 seconds your hot drink will be ready to go.
This machine is made of mostly stainless steel with a few pieces of hard plastic giving it is sleek and modern look. Inside the device you will find a self locking filter holder so you don’t have to fiddle around with any hot filters or tabs and you also have the option to use either pods or your own ground coffee beans.
This is great if you’re in a hurry or if it’s a weekend morning and you really want to spend time perfecting your brew. The greatest part about this machine is the stainless steel warming platform that will keep your espresso or cappuccino hot long after it’s been brewed. Keep in mind that you don’t want to leave it sitting too long or it will get bitter.
The drip tray is also made of stainless steel and can be quickly removed for easy cleaning. For rapid use simply press the on button and choose between coffee or steam, as represented with the images on the front of the device, place your mug underneath the drip on the warming platform and shortly after your espresso will be ready. This machine also comes with a one-year warranty so if you have any problems with regular usage you can get it repaired or replaced.
Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker
Check out my personal Nespresso Pixie review.
The Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker is definitely your best choice when it comes to the best pod espresso machine under $200. Not only is it extremely highly rated on Amazon but I have personally used it and it is one of my favorites for the price range. It’s not truly a dedicated machine as it uses special capsules but for those in a hurry or who don’t have too much time in the morning this is really your best choice.
Taking advantage of a sleek, modern design, the Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker is perfect for small kitchens and fits nicely on the countertop without taking up that much space. It is completely automatic and at the touch of a button you can have an espresso ready in under a minute. Simply add the pod to the machine, press go and voilà! Your drink is now ready.
This espresso maker uses a 19 – bar pressure pump system in order to produce flavorful and aromatic espressos every time. With such a high pressure system it’s guaranteed that your drink will be the most flavorful as it can be and you’ll see forget that it’s even a pod machine and not a completely manual device.
One of the things I love about this machine is that there is a heat resistant panel on the top of the drawer so that there is a storage space right below the actual machine with room for 50 capsules. The water tank is completely removable and will hold 24 fluid ounces of water so it’s easy to remove for cleaning and holds enough for more than just one drink.
The entire device is made from strong, polystyrene plastic and all of the other parts are made from steel and chrome. It feels very sturdy in your hands and it doesn’t rattle around when it is brewing your coffee. The Nespresso Pixie Espresso Maker is extremely durable for its size and you shouldn’t experience any internal issues from regular usage.
One of the main problems that people have with this machine is that the capsules tend to be a bit expensive. Also, there isn’t a built-in frother so it’s unable to be used to make cappuccinos, lattes or other espresso drinks. However, it’s a great choice if you don’t want to go through the hassle of grinding beans and cleaning everything up afterwards.
